Kent Place School is seeking a full-time Director of Advancement Events to conduct all event planning, management and execution in support of Advancement programs. Kent Place School is in its 128th year and its future has never been brighter. With record applications and fundraising, Kent Place is in a position of strength as preparations are underway for a historic campaign. To support this vision, KPS is seeking an experienced and strategic thinker to be a key partner in developing a robust and meaningful engagement strategy for all community members. This person serves as a leader on the Advancement team and is responsible for managing all advancement events including, but not limited to, parent gatherings, the Athletic Hall of Fame, Alumnae Weekend, donor cultivation and stewardship events, and local and regional alumnae events. The Director of Advancement Events will also guide the Parents' Association with logistics and planning of their events. Reporting to the Senior Director of Community Engagement, the Director of Advancement Events works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer and her team and in collaboration with all departments of Kent Place School. She/he will also interact with members of the Kent Place community across all constituencies, including Board members, parents, alumnae, parents of alumnae, grandparents and friends.
The Advancement Office fosters relationships with individuals whose engagement, school pride, and financial investment support the efforts and achievements of students, faculty, and staff in pursuit of Kent Place's mission and strategic priorities.
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Community Engagement and in collaboration with the advancement team, key areas of responsibility include the following:
- Work with internal stakeholders including the Head of School's office, Division Directors' offices, Operations, Business Office, Parents' Association, and On-Campus Dining Services to plan events;
- Work to create a framework of best practices for event management to be utilized and shared broadly with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency of events;
- Oversee event coordination for on campus and off campus events such as schedule, budgeting, logistics, work orders, registration process oversight;
- Collaborate with team members to prepare leadership for events and meetings such as providing briefing packets (schedule, directions, attendee lists, prospective and current donor information, talking points, mini-bios, research, etc.); drafting agendas; preparing handouts and other event materials.
- Provide oversight for alumnae programs such as board meetings, alumnae weekend, alumnae visiting day, regional travel, and virtual events.
- Develop and manage the events budget
- Create strategy to evaluate the success of events and provide direction and recommendations for ways to successfully engage our community.
- Other special projects and duties as assigned.
- Evening and occasional weekend hours are required on an as needed basis.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required.
- More than 5-8 years of experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in events or communications at an educational institution or non-profit organization.
- Demonstrated success is planning and implementing special events and meetings.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to remain poised and creatively problem solve under pressure.
- Ability to take initiative to meet deadlines in a time-sensitive and fluid environment with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, constituents, and vendors in order to foster effective, reciprocal communications and promote a collegial environment.
- Maintains the highest standards of personal integrity and demonstrates respect for all people from a wide variety of lived experiences.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Google Suite; experience with Raiser's Edge software preferred.
- A sense of humor and a love of learning are a plus!
