Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking individuals with strong leadership with equity, diversity, inclusion, and/or cultural competency initiatives background to apply for the Director II, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (Certificated) position.
The individual will work across LACOE divisions to assess potential barriers to diversity and inclusiveness amongst staff, and build inclusive leadership capabilities; plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the activities and staff involved in the activities of the implementation of programs and systems that value and prioritize equity, diversity, and inclusion; assists school districts in establishing and sustaining culturally relevant and responsive student services; and provides program research and evaluation support and guidance to designated school districts in Los Angeles County.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
- California Education Code, California Administrative Code, and policies, rules, and regulations of the Office
- Current research, trends, and best practices related to educational equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Principles, practices, methods, and techniques applicable to change management initiatives
- Principles and methods of modern finance and budget administration as they apply to the funding and reporting requirements of the program
- Advanced techniques in research and development and the application of program evaluation methods
- Federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and requirements pertaining to the specified program
- Evaluation strategies and techniques for determining program and project services and staff operational effectiveness
- Major curriculum, instruction, assessment, and equity-related trends, issues and initiatives in California
- Issues related to the achievement and opportunity gaps and strategies and approaches for addressing the needs of students who are ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse
- Approaches for building district capacity to create high-performing schools in which all students have equitable access to high-quality education

Experience: Five years of administrative experience in the research, development, and administration of programs, including three years of experience leading equity, diversity, inclusion, and/or cultural competency initiatives. Director-level experience preferred.
Additional Requirements: Possess and maintain a valid Clear Administrative Services Credential. Detailed certification/credential with document number must be attached to the application.
