We are hiring a full-time permanent Director, Engineering (Senior Manager, Engineering) to support our Texas operations and be based near Taylor, Texas.

In this role you will be leading a team of professionals in the area of Engineering & Operational Due Diligence, Startup and Commissioning and Technical Support as needed to meet the business and operational needs of the organization. You are a working manager that is not only capable of leading the team, but also able to work along-side and perform engineering duties assigned to the team.


What you’d be responsible for

Reporting to the VP of Industrial Water your key accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting engineering/operational due diligence for potential business acquisitions and pursuits.
  • Managing and delivering and executing key capital projects and programs assigned to the division.
  • Supporting the divisions in the coordination and acquisition of regulatory permits, real property needs and new/upgraded non-EPCOR owned utility service as needed for water & wastewater infrastructure.
  • Performing technical analysis and providing recommendations to support the Operation.
  • Managing and developing a team of 4-5 engineers and working with plant operations management to identify and develop operational indicators and procedures for the plant operational staff to follow to allow for meeting the identified KPIs.
  • Assigning and overseeing resources to perform capital improvement projects as well as above mentioned tasks.
  • Developing comprehensive long term capital investment and annual engineering functional business plans for the Taylor, TX operations.
  • Pursues educational opportunities and professional development to enhance performance and contributions to the organization.


What’s required to be successful


  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.) with ability to obtain reciprocity in TX. (optional)
  • 10+ years of experience managing and collaborating with engineering and operational teams on the startup and operation water and wastewater infrastructure projects and programs.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of Engineers.
  • Operator certification is a plus.
  • In addition to being an inspiring technical leader with a passion for water and wastewater technology, it is essential that you possess a solid understanding of the engineering processes in our industry.
  • Strong leadership ability and strong interpersonal skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills and keen listening abilities.
  • Outstanding analysis and problem solving abilities as well as proven results-driven goals orientation.
  • Collaborative team working skills and expertise to achieve business goals, build cohesiveness while valuing individual perspectives and contributions.
  • Proven strong knowledge of chemistry and knowledge of advanced water treatment technologies such as Advanced oxidation processes, Ion Exchange, Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Bardenpho Biological Nutrient Reduction, Membrane Biological Reactors, and Thermal Brine Treatment.
