This role will report to our Stevens Point, WI office.
What You'll Do:
Provides strategic leadership to assigned claims associates.
Manages business claims for a major geographic area and/or or multiple claims disciplines, which may include remote associates and physical office locations. Ensures high quality customer service is provided to policyholders and claimants. Provides overall direction and guidance to assigned claims associates to meet service standards and to assure adequate reserving practices and effective use of company assets.
Provides objective setting, development of claims policy, determination of authority limits, protocols, audit standards, and other claim management controls/practices. Identifies and recommends procedures and programs needed to achieve Claims objectives. Delegates authority to staff based on corporate standards and individual expertise.
Settles claims within granted authority. Determines authority for reserving, settlement, and payment of claims to assure proper outcomes.
Oversees department and corporate audits including, but not limited to, managing communications, supplying requested data, providing supporting documentation, and addressing any audit findings to ensure successful completion. Addresses and ensures the correction of any deficiencies identified by audits.
Assists in implementing necessary and appropriate systems and workflow to support claim handling and compliance with departmental standards
Monitors service by staff; identifies needed improvements and develops and implements improvement programs. Identifies training needs and coordinates the development or modification of programs and materials
Assists Claims training teams in developing programs and materials to ensure comprehension of departmental policies, procedures and programs
Administers human resource-related activities including timely performance and salary reviews and ensures all subordinates adhere to human resources policies and practices. Selects, develops, motivates, and recognizes staff

What it Takes: ?
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum 8 years of related work experience in broad background in claims, including exposure to multiple lines of coverage and policies
Prior Claims management experience
Strong analytical, communication, and human relations skills
Knowledge of Sentry's philosophies, products, and systems
Technical expertise in assigned area of claim policies and practices as well as insurance products
Knowledge of applicable laws affecting claims; preferably technical expertise
Strong working knowledge of contracts, service level agreements, and application of terms and conditions
Strong negotiation skills
Associate must have the ability to travel as necessary to satisfactorily complete their job responsibilities as assigned.
