Job description
- Be responsible for the day-to-day care and supervision of a group of Woods residents (adult or children) with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Establish a positive and supportive relationship with your group of clients.
- Support clients as they work toward achieving their daily and lifelong goals.

Actively participate in and contribute to the care of clients through the execution, coordination, and support of daily programming.- Provide assistance, instruction, and guidance toward client independence in all activities of daily life.
- Help clients learn key social and communication skills by serving as a role model with respect to appropriate behavior, problem solving and coping, taking initiative, using active listening and other social skills, being punctual, grooming and dress, and accepting direction.
- Use crisis stabilization procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures. In the event of any emergency, respond in accordance to established emergency response procedures.
- Support clients’ academic and vocational activities in a way that emphasizes client strengths and accomplishments.
- Be a client advocate by ensuring Woods’ clients are free from abuse and mistreatment.
- Provide proof of a High School Diploma, GED or a College Degree – salary commensurate with education and experience.
- Preferably have one year experience in a residential care facility or equivalent.
- Be in good physical condition and be able to demonstrate the ability to complete all required training.
- Be able to read, write, enter dates and follow verbal/written directions, prepare written reports, and complete forms in English. Must be able to verbally communicate in English and direct/respond to client’s needs.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all supervisory, support, peer, and other Woods employees throughout the residences and other program areas.
