About Windwood:
Windwood Family Services provides two residential programs on its farm campus: a group home the serves up to 15 boys at a time, and a psychiatric residential therapy facility serving up to 12 boys at a time. Additionally, Windwood maintains an outpatient clinic that houses our community-based prevention services and provides therapy.

Summary:
Our Direct Care Teammates provide care and behavioral interventions for boys (Aged 6-16) who have been placed with the agency due to emotional or behavioral difficulties, psychiatric disorders, or the need for crisis stabilization due to exposure to traumatic events and/or abuse. This person will work alongside the multi-disciplinary mental health team to support therapeutic interventions and monitor basic physical needs of residents.

To be successful in this role, the candidate will demonstrate compassion while also maintaining personal boundaries with residents. They will have a background in working with children or high stress environments and positions. A strong candidate has an understanding of mental health challenges.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Participates in fostering a therapeutic environment by following facility procedures and boundaries. Follows policy and procedures regarding monitoring in high risk areas, complies with applicable procedures for physical intervention (personal restraints) in the event of emergency situations.

· Models appropriate social and life skills to assist residents in learning independent living skills.

· Provides required documentation of behavior and activity in behaviorally specific language; meets required timelines for documentation, according to policy.

· Builds trusting and supportive relationships with youth through acts of concern, pleasantness, and fairness.

Minimum Job Requirements

· Education in child development, psychology, behavioral health, social work, public health, or related, preferred.

· Experience working with children, preferred.

· Ability to demonstrate tolerance to work under challenging conditions, including constant interruptions, inappropriate behaviors, and potential verbal and physical threats from youth residents.

· Ability to resolve conflict during crisis situations.

· Ability to work on a team and communicate with a diverse professional staff, resident population, and co-workers.

· Education in child development, psychology, behavioral health, social work, public health, or related preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
