Description
Jimerson Birr, P.A. is a full-service business law firm that seeks to exceed client expectations through commitment to excellence and by adding value to our clients’ businesses, located in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. We are seeking qualified candidates to add to our team of remote legal writers, who produce original and quality content for publication and website production and distribution to potential clients and legal professionals throughout the country. You will work remotely, on a project-by-project basis, under the direct supervision of an Editor/Attorney. This is an ideal role for someone with excellent writing, research and analytical skills, who is comfortable publishing legal content that is recent, relevant and a value-add to our readership.
About the Job
As a freelance legal writer for Jimerson Birr, you work on an independent or contract basis. Your responsibilities are to write web content for company website. Your duties may also include writing articles on legal issues or written material on behalf of Jimerson Birr. You must adhere to regulations in the industry, whether you are drafting web content, educational articles, or attorney profiles. As a freelance legal writer, you might also prepare news summaries, write about case law, or create memorandums. Editing copy is part of this job however we will have a Senior Editor to review all content before it is published.
The qualifications you need as a freelance legal writer include excellent writing skills, working knowledge of terminology used in legal documents, and familiarity with industry regulations. While your typical duties are to write and edit web content, you may also write articles, marketing material, and attorney profiles. The skills to translate complex legal terminology into easy-to-digest information is essential.
What you will need

• Must have a Juris Doctor Degree or education degree specializing in law
• Experience in writing legal documents and law specific articles
• Experience writing web content
• Demonstrate excellent writing skills and sound judgement
• Experience writing law specific marketing materials
• Must have an ability to efficiently analyze legal concepts and concisely write and produce top-tier content, including comprehensive written blog content
• Experience writing blogs and other online communications
• Research and analyze statutes, cases, rules for the purpose of developing website content
• Work autonomously and meet strict publication deadlines
• Have an excellent command of grammar, word-usage, punctuation, and style, as well as keen attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines. Knowledge of legal terminology is also essential.
• Must have a high degree of attention to detail; ability to master and convey information quickly; and have an understanding of, and commitment to, the Firm’s mission and goals.
