Position Summary
Are you a forward-thinking, innovative, and visionary fundraising leader with a strong track record of successful philanthropy campaigns? Then we are looking for you! This new position will be a member of a dynamic team that provides critical financial support for RSU Public TV. The Development Specialist will be responsible for a full range of activities that include but are not limited to: research, cultivate, secure, and manage a broad spectrum of grants, underwriting, corporate and business support, including program underwriting events, production and programming sponsorships, corporate family philanthropic foundations and educational grants. In addition, this position will serve as public ambassador/liaison to the business community in Tulsa and surrounding areas through various activities, including:
- Attending the Tulsa Chamber;
- Making public presentations to promote corporate and philanthropic underwriting opportunities
- Apply for state and federal grants, then manage the disbursement and compliance reports
Primary Duties:
- Work closely with the General Manager to develop strategies to meet financial goals and to determine funding needs and opportunities for station produced content and events;
- Maximize potential for new opportunities on broadcast and web presence by strategically building
relationships with stakeholders, current accounts, and potential account holders; - Maintain accurate records and files, including an application, contracting, renewal and reporting calendar;
- Research funding/underwriting/corporate/state and federal grant opportunities from a variety for
sources, including corporations, businesses, foundations, and government agencies - Create and manager funding/underwriting proposals;
- Create and manage funding/underwriting contracts; monitor and ensure timely renewal
of underwriting contracts; - Coordinate and collaborate with Rogers State University Office of Development to research and
prepare corporate foundations grants and compliance reports; - Provide recommendations for improvements and modifications to all grant and underwriting
strategies; - Meet with General Manager twice a week to discuss presentation and marketing results as is related
to financial goals; - Plan and oversee all internal and external station events;
- Coordinate and direct donor communications including direct mail campaigns and prospecting
working with 3rd party direct mail companies contracted with RSU TV; - Work closely with General Manager to prospect and cultivate major donor prospects for funding
future RSU TV endowment; - Design financial reports to regularly update General Manager and Community advisory Board on
fundraising progress and membership goals; - Perform other related duties as assigned;
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years in development and nonprofit fundraising
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proven ability to close major gifts of $2,500 or more;
- Experience with events and internal and external communication;
- Professional demeanor; excellent verbal and written communications and a business acumen;
- Strong time management and interpersonal skills;
- Successful track record of driving new revenue;
- Commitment to excellence and a winning attitude;
Preferred qualifications:
- BA/BS degree
