Job description
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineer or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in motherboard, switch mainboard, or complex electrical hardware system development across full product life cycles
- 5+ years of experience co-designing with firmware and software teams
- 5+ years of experience building and managing high performance electrical hardware teams
- 5+ years testing, validation, and advanced verification practices
The AWS Motherboard team drives system innovation in the servers used by all of Amazon Web Services, including EC2, S3 and CloudFront. Our engineers solve the hardest problems that fuse software, hardware, and the cloud. We take big bets on new concepts, enabling AWS services to continue to revolutionize the industry. We are looking for an experienced Hardware Development Manager to build and own motherboards and other system board for our servers. The ideal candidate for this role will be an innovative, hands-on leader seasoned in building and leading the team the owns our motherboards and hardware validation solutions. As the manager of this team, you will lead a team of highly motivated hardware engineers that thrive on solving challenging problems with innovative solutions. The team couples board design and close collaboration with our firmware and software teams to solve real world data center infrastructure problems. You will lead a team building, validating, and designing motherboards for AWS servers. You will lead a team of senior engineers that will build customized hardware solutions for AWS that incorporate the newest CPU, memory, and interconnect technologies. You will lead a team responsible for development, validation, and operation of custom hardware used in AWS servers. This space will include our core motherboards and other customized system boards. You will lead new feature development efforts from concept to launch and beyond. You will establish strategic vision and drive execution in defining and delivering new products and services. This is a fast-paced position where you will be challenged to think on your feet. You’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. - Master's Degree in a technical field
- 15+ years of experience in motherboard, switch mainboard, or complex electrical hardware system development across full product life cycles
- 15+ years experience with server, storage, networking, and/or large-scale distributed systems
- Experience with DDR, PCIe, I2C, SPI, and hardware validation
- An understanding of AWS technologies
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $234,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
