Development and Communications Associate (Grant Writer)
Wisconsin Community Services Inc.
Put your strong writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills to use in your contributions to a 110-year-old nonprofit, human service organization. As the fourth member of an established development and communications team, join us in our collaboration with human service administrators to:
- Write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive grant proposals and other significant documents
- Complete applications to government entities (federal, state, county and city), foundations, United Way and other funding sources.
- Participate in planning and developing programs
- Perform needed research for funding proposals, applications and other organizational planning
- Assist in all areas of development and communication including data collection, publications, marketing, and funder reporting
As the Development and Communication Associate you will also spend time on group communication and, on occasion, lead group projects. Additionally, you will write and collect participant success stories for broad organizational use. Your belief in our mission to “provide innovative opportunities for individuals to overcome adversity” will assist you in supporting the expansion of our social media presence and your input into the WCS website and Intranet.
Your studies in communication, public policy, social welfare or related field, your three to five years of expertise with proposal/grant writing and institutional donors, and your knowledge of fundraising and research techniques, fundraising strategies and informational sources will contribute to your success in this role. We also need your experience using computer programs such as Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel etc.); databases; design/ presentation software; and event software.

Salary range $45,000 -$55,000 per year depending on education and experience.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
