Title: Designer

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

Responsible to design waste heat recovery equipment consistent with the proposed project requirements, applicable codes (ASME BPVC Sections I and/or VIII), specifications, and industry and company standards. Work within a team of engineers, drafters, manurfacutring and project management personnel to complete the project on schedule and within budget.

Essential Functions:

· Work with a project team to review customer specifications and define project requirements and collaborate with the team to enable efficient, effective and successful project execution.

· Apply the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code requirements consistent with the project design.

· Perform all Code Calculations to validate the tube, piping and drum designs and welded joint configurations.

· Utilize AutoCAD 2D and 3D CAD software by Autodesk as necessary to generate basic boiler design documents consisting of models and arrangements with section views required for customer submittal and downstream detailed engineering/project execution.

· Calculate equipment weight and center of gravity and prepare shipping sketch.

· Support the preparation of Specifications for the integration of ancillary equipment (i.e., fans, duct burners, catalyst, heat exchangers, pumps, into the overall design.

· Provide design support throughout the equipment fabrication and jobsite installation.

· Assist with the development and maintenance of project schedules.

Technical Skills:

· Strong analytical skills to perform essential job functions.

· Good communication skills.

· Perform active role in internal and external (i.e., customer) meetings.

· General understanding of boiler system design and drafting requirements.

· Working knowledge of industrial steel equipment fabrication and industrial pressure part welding.

· Abiliy to aquire a working knowledge of the ASME Pressure Vessel Codes.

· Advanced CAD (2D and/or 3D) skills and ability.

· Ability to effectively use typical technical software as necessary to execute non CAD design and office functions.

· Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Type on a keyboard and operate a personal computer.

· Perform work within office environment including telephone use.

Education:

Two year degree in Mechanical Drafting/Design. Four year degree in related Engineering discipline preferred. An equivalent combination of professional experience and education will be considered.

Experience:

1-3 years of previous related experience required; five plus years of previous related experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
