Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years' experience in busy, multi-operatory office with more than one doctor and 2-3 hygienists
- 2 years' dental insurance/billing experience, including PPO contracts
- Knowledge of CDT coding and insurance narratives
- Knowledge of dental insurance plans and programming plans in to dental software
- Proficient with dental software and digital charting
- Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs including Microsoft Office
- Experience with presenting fees, financial plans, managing A/R, collections
- Knowledge of current HIPAA regulations
- Customer service/patient care experience
- Accuracy and organization
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience as a Dental Assistant
- Experience with Practiceworks/Carestream
Essential Functions
- Greet and check patients in and out for and after treatment
- Answering incoming calls to include new patient calls, emergencies, scheduling patient appointments, requesting records, and follow up
- Develop and maintains doctor/hygienist schedule to meet practice goals
- Educate and consult patients discussing treatment needs and presenting treatment plans
- Document patient dental treatments and financial transactions, to include signing of financial arrangements, prepayments for large cases, financing, and charges collection
- Make pre-treatment financial arrangements with patients
- Manage unscheduled list and treatment pending list to ensure patient follow through to meet scheduling goals
- Follow office procedures for patient referrals
- Billing dental insurance, posting payments, and claim estimations
- Verify dental benefits and update new plans as necessary
- Balance daily charges and prepare deposits
- Responds to doctor, patient and staff concerns and inquiries and seeks assistance when necessary
- General office duties and other duties as required
