The Massapequa Schools seek creative, passionate leaders to apply for an anticipated opening of Dean of Students.
Specific skills, knowledge, and ability include the following:
- Ability to foster a positive and supportive culture among students, staff, and families
- Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of secondary education
- Demonstrate skills in dealing with student behavior/discipline and related matters
- Ability to work effectively with at-risk students
- Ability to support all students, including students with disabilities
- Ability to promote staff and parental communication and cooperation
- Ability to acquire familiarity with the education laws of the State of New York, the Commissioner of Education's Regulations, Part 100 and Part 200, and the policies, practices, functions, and personnel of the District
- Strong understanding of the Code of Conduct and its application
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of the professional and ancillary staff
- Ability to work effectively with all segments of the school community (staff, parents, students, and community groups)
- Ability to present written and oral reports and recommendations clearly and concisely
Job Qualifications
- Must hold NYS School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification
- Must have a minimum of five years’ successful teaching experience
- Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have a demonstrated record of collaborating with all stakeholders
