Overview

About Annalect
Annalect’s 2,000+ innovators leverage data and technology to help clients across Omnicom build relationships that matter — whether that means fostering consumers’ trust in brands, building new experiences, or delivering advanced analytics where it’s most needed. Annalect is the driving force behind Omni, Omnicom’s unique open operating system, which works hand-in-hand with clients’ and partners’ data and tools, to orchestrate better marketing outcomes.

Annalect’s unique approach to data and technology – one that relies on transparency, neutrality, and interoperability – allows us to deliver purpose-built and scalable solutions that make data actionable. Our advanced teams of product leaders, data scientists, consultants, and engineers enable us to meet the business goals of our internal and external clients.

Team Overview:
We are a small team working at the heart of the changes to our industry driven by both technology and regulatory evolution around data privacy and responsible governance and use of data. We:
  • Provide support, knowledge and training for others to better understand these changes.
  • Help other Omnicom teams to identify opportunities for new products and services.
  • Ensure we have suitable data privacy processes and governance around the development and operation of both existing and new products and services.
  • Assess risk and compliance with our vendors and Omni and provide information on this to clients.
  • Promote data responsibility, privacy and compliance internally across Annalect within Omnicom; to clients in Omnicom pitches and engagements; and to our vendors and the wider industry.
  • Provide paid privacy services to clients.
We work closely with other teams across Annalect and with OMG Privacy, a global community led by the Omnicom Media Group (OMG) global Chief Privacy Officer and the European Data Protection Officer who has oversight of and is responsible for OMG Privacy Compliance across Europe together with the OMG EMEA Privacy Team.

Position Overview:
The Data Protection Manager is responsible for supporting all Annalect teams in developing and adopting world class data governance techniques. This is an operational role helping drive the next stage in our data governance transformation. As Annalect continues to grow, we are moving from each team taking individual responsibility for data governance and responsibility to a more holistically integrated approach, and this role is central to making that a success. We have strong existing teams working in technical security, data operations, and data quality. This position will work closely with them and others, supporting and enhancing their work to continue to strengthen both our internal processes.

The position is also directly accountable for several processes that coordinate across multiple teams, such as being a central point of contact for our digital consent management platform and shepherding of data subject rights requests / DSARs.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate
  • You like making complex things more orderly, and you want to work at the heart of the evolution of digital advertising, and marketing use of data more generally. You’ve probably been working in data governance or data management for a few years and are keen to use that experience within a fast-moving organization using data at scale. You’re comfortable with figuring out the organization as you go along, starting to deliver from your first week.
  • Most likely you’ve started taking on some responsibilities around data privacy over the last couple of years. This might have been closely focused on data protection, or you may have experience working more broadly with a Data Protection Officer or compliance team. Either way you’re certainly aware of the importance of the newer laws and want to learn more as data governance and data privacy move ever closer together. We can provide suitable training around privacy, including if appropriate building towards a relevant privacy qualification.
  • You are highly organized, capable of managing multiple workstreams and across a range of internal and external stakeholders in an inclusive and collaborative fashion. Ideally, you are self-organizing, with experience prioritizing between competing demands to keep everything on track. If you have experience with some of the project management and collaboration tools in Office 365, including Planner and SharePoint sites, then that would be a bonus.
  • A technical background in data management and processing software would be a bonus, as would familiarity with marketing data use cases. You are a strong communicator, capable of translating complex ideas particularly for non-specialists and senior stakeholders and have experience creating both technical and project documentation that can be used by a broad range of audiences.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a view of data-related processes and governance being followed by Annalect teams. Use that view to support those teams, Annalect’s leadership, and our lawyers (including OMG Privacy) in identifying opportunities for improvements and new requirements as new laws come into effect.
  • Manage documentation and conduct training of Annalect data owners, ensuring they understand their responsibilities, which include developing suitable policies, use cases, and limitations, and applying existing Annalect and Omnicom policies. Provide additional ad hoc support to data owners and others as required around these responsibilities, including helping them to maintain processing records and data flows, and to conduct impact assessments.
  • Work with other Annalect teams to identify new data governance techniques, and new opportunities to apply existing techniques, to improve our operational processes and commercial offering.
  • Support OMG Privacy in executing data subject rights requests, coordinating across different Annalect teams and ensuring we meet our policy and regulatory timelines.
  • Work with Omnicom and OMG technology teams, OMG Privacy, and relevant Annalect teams to ensure we have robust processes to maintain our consent management platform (currently OneTrust) as our digital properties and needs evolve.
  • Manage documentation and conduct training for the use of Omnicom’s data classification within Annalect, including providing support to our teams implementing that data classification where they have questions. Over time we expect to further refine that classification to better support Annalect’s specific needs.
  • Project managing the Annalect implementation and ongoing evolution of Omnicom’s Data Governance as a Service tools, working with our technical operations teams and data owners across the organization.
  • Creating and managing reporting and suitable visualizations, working with other teams as relevant, to better understand how our current data governance is functioning and supporting successful outcomes for our clients.
Perks of working at Annalect
  • Culture! We have an incredibly fun, collaborative environment that encourages engagement and work/life balance
  • Generous PTO that includes vacation days, personal days, a fantastic Summer Friday program and extended time off around the holiday season.
  • As part of Omnicom, we have the backing and resources of a global billion-dollar company, but also have the flexibility and pace of a “startup” - we move fast, break things, and innovate.
