Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.


For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

The Institute for Human Genetics (IHG) is a basic science research institute comprised of faculty that span all four schools (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy) and many departments within those schools, reflecting the broad importance of genetic and genomic disciplines both in basic scientific research and in modern day health care. Th IHG serves as the hub for all human genetics related activities across the UCSF campus. Our mission is to create an exciting, productive, and collaborative environment for research, training, and clinical application in human genetics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and see assigned parts of projects through to completion on deadline.
  • Basic consultation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to perform research analysis duties.
  • Knowledge with and/or scientific software/website utilization.
  • Interest in data sciences.
