Brown Emergency Medicine (Brown EM) is the academic emergency medicine physician practice plan of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Brown EM provides emergency department staffing for Rhode Island Hospital, the only Level I trauma center in this region; Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Rhode Island’s only children’s specialty hospital; The Miriam Hospital, a leading community teaching hospital and Newport Hospital, a community Magnet Hospital. Brown EM member physicians and providers treat over 250,000 patients per year at our 4 clinical sites, drawing patients from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Brown EM is currently seeking a highly motivated and professional Data Analyst who is responsible for maintaining the integrity of data, assisting with the implementation and maintenance of business intelligence, revenue, and other projects. The Data Analyst collaborates with stakeholders in the creation, organization, execution, and completion of specific projects as they relate to systems and applications used by Brown EM.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Monitor trends in data and investigating/escalating as needed
  • Power BI Dashboard maintenance
  • Data maintenance (including but not limited to user login recognition criteria, provider setup and deactivation, NPIs, duplicate patients, provider emails, resident PGYs, etc.)
  • Maintaining chargemaster data summary
  • Rosetta maintenance and reprocessing
  • Webi report maintenance
  • Windex maintenance
  • Application support and collaboration on projects related to functionality, updates, and process improvement
  • Assist with production and distribution of specific weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual data sets (including but not limited to NDNQI and provider metrics)
  • Maintenance of automated processes
  • Assists with other Business Intelligence, revenue, and other projects as needed

The qualifications for the position are:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Two to three years of experience preferred
  • Technical savvy to learn certain technologies used by Brown EM
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Possess exemplary time management and organizational skills
  • Collaborative and willing to share creative solutions and insight
  • Critical thinker and problem solver
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Experience in healthcare setting a plus
