Founded in 1965, the Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. (CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant, and low-income communities. Today, CPC is the nation's largest Asian American social services agency and offers more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout New York City, including early childhood education, school-age care, youth services, workforce development, community services, and senior services. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
CPC is currently seeking dedicated professionals to support a new federally funded Community Recovery & Safety Services (CRSS) program on a one-year term till end of September 2023 with a high possibility of year two/continuation. The CRSS Project has three chief goals: 1) raise AAPI community awareness of health and mental health care needs and available services/resources, including those established to offer relief for pandemic-/economic-related issues; 2) reduce cultural stigma surrounding mental health care and/or reduce/remove barriers to accessing services; and 3) advance efforts to combat anti-Asian violence and reduce the impact of growing insecurity and anxiety among vulnerable Asian Americans that stem from anti-Asian racism.
This program offers case management, mental health screenings, health and wellness-related trainings, psycho-educational workshops, individual counseling, group support services, and more. This program is geared towards the broad community of youth, families, and seniors who have been impacted by the traumatic nature of the pandemic, the anti-Asian violence that has more than doubled in recent years in NYC, and to ensure all who need additional support are able to access them in a culturally and linguistically accessible setting that meet their needs. The goal is to reduce the stigma around mental health and empower community members with the assets, resources, and skills needed to recover from the pandemic and return to meaningful home, community, education, and work life.
JOB SUMMARY
The Training Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and conduct a calendar of workshops, trainings, and inter-cultural community events. The Training Coordinator will support community education and outreach activities as needed with a focus on wellness, safety and battling anti-Asian hate.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the CRSS Project Manager, the Training Coordinator will:
- Plan, recruit, and conduct workshops, trainings, and inter-cultural community events.
- Support community education and outreach activities as needed with a focus on wellness, safety and battling anti-Asian hate.
- Develop events and work with partners to bring offerings to CPC/host events.
- Post events and workshops via social media channels.
- Complete all required documentation timely and accurately.
- Ensure all contractual and regulatory obligations of the SAMHSA are met.
- Maintain confidentiality of all community member-protected health information and adhere to all HIPAA- related policies and procedures.
- Other duties as determined by the CRSS Project Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Background in social services or trainings.
- Minimum two years of experience working with low-income or immigrant persons.
Skills:
- AAPI cultural competence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently within a flexible schedule and demonstrate effective time management.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work on some evenings or Saturdays.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) or Spanish preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW
- $28 to $30 per hour; up to 500 hours annually.
