Oceaneering Space Systems (OSS) is a precision engineering and manufacturing group which specializes in turn-key design, development, manufacturing, certification, maintenance, and testing of extra-vehicular and intra-vehicular (EVA & IVA) tools and equipment for astronauts; including life support and environmental control systems for space; robotic systems for military, space, and biological research; and thermal protection systems for launch vehicles. The Countermeasures System (CMS) Integrator will assist teammates with assessing flight dates and hardware delivery dates using International Space Station (ISS) online and other digital resources.
- Work alongside project personnel during flight processing of hardware.
- Coordinate with Safety and Materials engineers to complete hardware flight assessments required for delivery andreturn.
- Create flight delivery schedules for CMS hardware and support system manifest and engineering meetings.
- Work with teams to complete the necessary documentation to ship and launch ISS flight hardware for specific flights.
- Serve as the point of contact between CMS and the Cargo Mission Contract (CMC). Transport flight hardware to CMC onscheduled delivery days.
- Present and discuss statuses at meetings and answer questions from customers and other teammates.
- Act as correspondent between CMS team and other organizations (including CMC, JETS safety, toxicology, Joint Cargo Certification Team, shipping department, export control, and others as required.).
- Might join hardware teams in testing activities.
- Perform catch-all work such as government recall alert assessments and general fact-finding when necessary.
- Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines of instructions.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED:
- BS degree from an accredited school in the field of Engineering or in a related area.
- Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail. This is a highly visible position and details of this role are scrutinized.
- Self-motivation and time management skills are a must. This position requires the ability to prioritize and perform job functions with limited supervision.
- Very organized individual. The ability to track task progress is important, and exceptional notetaking is a must.
- Must be highly resourceful, willing to research for answers, and able to determine which digital resources or points of contact to consult when searching for information.
- Must be a team-player. This role requires working with many different people to successfully accomplish tasks on time.
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills, technical background, and a focus on customer service.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels
- Must have working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular engineering field.
- Ideal candidate will exemplify an enthusiastic work ethic and a strong interest in space flight hardware and operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
REQUISITION PREFERENCES:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering - ABET accredited university preferred.
- Familiarity with all Countermeasures hardware.
- Some experience with crew interface/communication.
- Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.
- Experience with procedure development.
