Camp Kaleidoscope Summer Day Camp CIT Director

Camp Kaleidoscope, the Jewish Community Center's arts day camp in Newton, has a position for a creative, nurturing Counselor-in-Training (CIT) director. Supervise, schedule and coach campers entering grades 9-11 as they assist with camper groups and pursue their own interests through daily electives. CIT directors also teach classes or assist with activities throughout the day as scheduled. The camp season is June 26-August 18. Camp day is Monday-Friday 8:45 AM – 4:15 PM. The position includes pre-camp planning meetings, orientation the week of June 19 and staff meetings every other Monday afternoon. JCC Greater Boston offers free camp bus service from Cambridge, Brookline, Framingham, Sudbury and Wayland, enabling staff to utilize transportation from their home communities.

Camp Kaleidoscope draws creative youth interested in the arts, science and the outdoors. Supportive, experienced counselors and teachers guide campers as they develop and build self-confidence. Camp is fast-paced, nurturing and supportive, as both campers and staff develop lifelong friendships.

Salary for the full season is $4800-$5200. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity. All camp staff have complimentary JCC summer access. Full-time staff send their children to camp tuition-free (tax implications may apply).

CIT-2s help with a bunk group all day. Supportive, experienced counselors and teachers guide campers in drama, filmmaking, music, cooking, science, sports and games as they develop and build self-confidence. Camp is fast-paced, nurturing and supportive, as both campers and staff develop lifelong friendships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· training, mentoring and supporting CITs entering grades 9-11

· teaching or assisting with scheduled activities

· creating a fun/joyful dynamic

· working in partnership with peers and camp leadership to provide a happy, safe and memorable summer for the campers and CITs
