RESPONSIBILITIES

The Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor has primary responsibility for the treatment assessment and development of the treatment plan in addition to the implementation of same for each client on his/her case load. The responsibility includes insuring that the treatment process is appropriate to client need that the client’s progress is monitored and demonstrates appropriate treatment outcomes, and that documentation of treatment progress is maintained in a timely manner and in a fashion adequate to provide evidence of medical necessity for treatment as well as progress toward identified goals. The acceptance of a client implies acceptance of this responsibility. To fulfill these responsibilities, the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor will be expected to do the following:

DUTIES

  • Works with patients to complete all intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfer paperwork.
  • Documents client progress through counseling and interaction through groups.
  • Completes client psychosocial and an individualized treatment plan with input from client within the required time frame.
  • Identifies any clinical/case management needs and works to address those needs.
  • Performs individual, group, and family counseling as required.
  • Performs at least 60% productivity of direct one-on-one patient contact per week through individual or group counseling.
  • Reports client abuse, neglect and exploitation as required.
  • Reports client grievances as required.
  • Educates client in all aspects of treatment, corresponding health issues and steps to recovery.
  • Obtains Urine Drug Screens and initial client photo identification.
  • Assists in monitoring all client activities on center premises.
  • Actively participates in community relations activities as directed and authorized.
  • Ensures the reading and understanding of the Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Ensures compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 (Federal Confidentiality Regulations) and 45 CFR, Parts 160 164 (HIPAA)
  • Is responsible for obtaining or maintaining proper licensure and/or certification according to specific state requirements.
  • Actively participates in preparation for surveys and inspections conducted by CARF, the State, and any other agency site visits as dictated by the state laws or regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with local, State, Federal and Land of Goshen Treatment Center, Inc. rules, regulations and policies.
  • Always acts in the best interests of the program and company; honors, supports, and protects the proprietary data and rights of the company

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Associates Degree or higher level of education in human services field. Have completed 40 hours of education in chemical dependency counseling/clinical methods.

  • Ohio CDCA Required
  • Two years prior experience in alcohol, drug abuse or mental health field desirable.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have the initiative to develop services and work with professionals in both the public and private sector.
  • Must pass background check as described in policy and procedure manual when working in
  • any office where children/adolescents are treated.
  • Valid driver license and ability to successfully pass a criminal background check [FBI] if working in mental health sector.

1. Performs all duties as listed in an efficient and timely manner.

2. Administrative and clinical proficiency and accuracy in providing services to clients.

3. Treats clients with care and dignity.

4. Cooperates with other staff and assists in SUD program operations as needed.

5. Exhibits professionalism in the areas of work habits, attitude, behavior and appearance.

6.Treats all data and client information with total confidentiality

7.Will meet requirements for training to maintain licensure/certification and to insure adequate ongoing skill development. Ongoing education and some travel required to remain in this position.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
