Corrections Education Teacher (Science)

Danville, PA

The CSIU is currently accepting applications for a full time Corrections Education Teacher position in a corrections education residential youth treatment program located in Danville, PA. The Corrections Education Teacher will be responsible for daily instruction in the science content areas to secondary-grade level 7-12 students within the CSIU Schools on the grounds of NCSTU.

Salary: $49,353 – 65,808 depending on credentials and experience. This position follows a 188 days per year, 11-month August to June school schedule This is an exempt position offering excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance; retirement options including Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and life insurance options.

Education, experience and skills required:

• Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree with a major in education or field specific degree program with an emphasis on education.
• A valid Pennsylvania instructional certification in 8450-General Science 7-12 or 8405-Biology 7-12. Or will consider a candidate with a bachelor’s degree and willingness to obtain a Type 01 emergency permit in the area of 8450-General Science 7-12 or 8405-Biology 7-12 while enrolling in a PDE-approved program to obtain the applicable instructional certificate area.
• A demonstrated ability to work with at-risk populations.
• The ability to work productively and collaboratively with Department of Human Services (DHS) staff are essential.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are necessary to properly maintain open channels of communication with agencies, school districts, parents, members of higher education institutions, etc.
