Job Description
Under general supervision; performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair: unskilled laborer and custodial duties; may assist trades personnel; operates a variety of power equipment and hand tools. Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below.
Completion of a high school equivalent education plus two (2) years of experience in building maintenance and repair, building trades work, or an equivalent combination training and/or experience. Possession of a valid State of Ohio vehicle operator’ is license or have the ability to travel to and access the various work sites.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a secured correctional environment is preferred.

- Hazards associated with working a correctional facility.

- Employee is required to reach with hands and arms, climb, and balance, move, and carry objects weighing up to 95 pounds with assistance repeatedly from one location to another.
- Job requires performance of heavy manual labor, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and perform and repetitive motions; move whole body in continuous or heavy labor.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
- Employee shall meet all job safety requirements and all applicable PERPP/OSHA safety standards while performing the essential functions of the job.

Description of Job Duty
The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification.
Performs semi-skilled maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair work (e.g. HV AC, security systems, fire protection, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, metalwork, flooring. drop ceilings. concrete, masonry. drywall, correctional locks and locking systems. telecommunication and intercom systems. CCTV systems (cameras and monitors), commercial kitchen and laundry equipment (ovens, steamers. kettles. griddles. disposals. dishwashers. steam tables). recreation and/or gym equipment. (e.g. basketball rigs, volleyball systems, etc.) May assist contractors in specialized repair, maintenance. and/or testing. Completes assigned maintenance inspections and associated records and reports (e.g. generators, chillers, boilers, etc.), reports discrepancies in all matters of maintenance and safety to immediate supervisor.
Performs routine building and grounds maintenance and repair duties (e.g. operates tractor and push mower, edger, hedge trimmers, snow blower, weed eater, cleans and unclogs drains, shovels snow, picks up refuse, replaces light bulbs, disposes of trash, etc.); maintains equipment in proper working order (e.g., lubricates, cleans, adjusts, etc.).
Performs unskilled labor tasks (e.g. moves equipment, furniture, supplies; paints, patches plaster, mixes cement, etc.).
Maintains security in assigned work area (i.e., secures doors, windows, supplies, equipment and tools.)
