Calhoun Correctional Institution (Blountstown, FL) is currently looking for individuals that exemplify RESPECT, INTEGRITY, COURAGE, SELFLESS SERVICE, and COMPASSION, to join our team.

Correctional Officers monitor the activities of the inmates in living, recreation, dining and visitation areas. They coordinate inmate movement, conduct counts and provide emergency response, as needed, all while maintaining a safe and orderly environment. Correctional Officers MUST be able to work as a team, with fellow officers and supervisors.

As a recruit, you will attend a 10 week academy to prepare you for a career as a correctional officer. Courses include firearms training, defensives tactics, first aid, etc. Upon completion of Basic Recruit Training, employees are required to pass the State Officer Certification Exam.

Qualifications:

• 18 years of age (no maximum age restriction)
• United States Citizen
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Drug test and physical examination
• Background investigation and fingerprinting, which includes no felony convictions; no misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement; no misdemeanor conviction of domestic violence.
• Good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation.
