Location: Hybrid - Lansing, MI
Purpose:
The Oral Health Program administers oral health activities targeted around prevention, access to care, education, and workforce. As part of the HRSA Oral Health Workforce Innovation (OH- WIN) grant, this position will be responsible for the research, development and implementation of projects related to teledentistry and the profession of dental therapy. The coordinator will monitor, analyze, and recommend strategies for the implementation of teledentistry and the profession of dental therapy. The coordinator will serve as the liaison with multiple external and internal agencies to address strategies related to the oral health workforce innovation activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research, collect, consolidate, and analyze data necessary for the implementation of teledentistry and the dental therapy profession.
- Conduct research and analysis, and prepare reports, related to the work activities of teledentistry and the profession of dental therapy.
- Responsible for managing and assisting partners to ensure that terms and conditions of the grant and/or contract are being fulfilled.
- Develop and recommends state and departmental strategies to address teledentistry.
- Use and maintain computer data base to record and analyze data on program and service activities related to the teledentistry and dental therapy activities.
- Designs and implements educational programs on teledentistry and the profession of dental therapy for dental professionals along with dental/dental hygiene students.
- Plan, conducts, and host an oral health summit for the grant projects of teledentistry and dental therapy.
- Provide consultation to and coordinate programs along with acting as the liaison with the Michigan Primary Care Association and other partners.
- Contribute to Division activities including development of strategic plans and participate on MDHHS teams.
- Participate in all required trainings.
- Interact with other health professionals and units within MDHHS.
- Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
- Other duties as assigned by the Oral Health Program manager.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in health care, health management, or administration related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: One year of experience working with health care programs such as Medicaid, or other safety net providers that provide care to underserved populations.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with email/internet browser software. Basic computer skills: e.g., word processing and spreadsheets.
- Working knowledge of safety net health care in Michigan is highly desirable.
- High level of initiative and accountability.
- Excellent oral and written communications.
- Ability to effectively communicate with diplomacy under challenging circumstances.
- Able to work well in team situations.
- Self-motivated, able to complete work in timely manner, and handle multiple tasks at one time with minimal supervision.

Requirements:
Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <25# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 50% to 75% of the time and handling phone inquiries 90% of the time. Standard office environment. Requires valid vehicle operator’s license where needed to perform duties of the position.
Frequent deadlines. May require in-state and out-of-state travel for related meetings. The position will initially be a hybrid position (working in the office and remotely) with the possibility of becoming entirely remote.
