Position: Coordinator Connection Center
The Coordinator will foster and maintain community partnerships with health and human service organizations. They also help link students to community support services and manage the delivery of these services to students and families. This position will serve as our primary LGBTQ+ Inclusion Advocate and be responsible for developing and overseeing all LGBTQ+ programming, training, and support services at the college, forging connections and relationships with agencies in Rockland County to support this population towards academic and personal growth.
Job Duties:
Manages delivery of community-based services to students/families and refers students
as needed for services on/off campus, ensures that website is up to date with
information relevant to resources and services available to students, and maintain and
report data based on services provided and needed.
  • Oversees, maintains, and assists with any relevant grants related to the mission of the
Connection Center (e.g. Family Empowerment Grant) and assist with related grant
development and writing.
  • Implements, presents, and oversees non-academic related workshops tailored to student
needs and all LGBTQ+ programming, training, and support services and facilitates and
co-facilitates related discussion groups
  • Recruits, trains, and supervises student workers, RCC interns, graduate interns,
volunteers and any relevant grant supported employees (e.g. ACT Advisor and Hourly
Professional Counselor).
  • Maintains and performs budget maintenance for the Center, by completing requisitions
and monitoring expenditures, via RCC software, i.e. Banner.
  • Provides academic, career, and transfer advising assistance during peak times and
teaches one section/semester (two, if flex) of Intro to School (FYE)
  • Staffs on-campus food cupboard and clothing closet; implement programming as
necessary
  • Participates in campus-wide events and collaborates with other offices as necessary;
Implements Center-specific information sessions
  • Collaborate with the Counseling Center and Faculty Counselors to implement
programming tailored to student mental health needs.
  • Oversee the aesthetic appearance of the Connection Center and strive to make the space
feel peaceful, comfortable, and safe for students
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in related field, human services, sociology, counseling or psychology from an accredited institution. Minimum of 2 -4 years job related experience in a higher education setting, as an intern and/or paid
staff, or faculty member.
Preferred Experience:
Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills to interact with faculty, students, and administrators . Flexibility is a must. Ability to work in fast-paced environment, organized with a can-do attitude. Experience with community outreach and strong verbal and written communication skills. Have knowledge of crisis intervention and community emergency services
Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience
