Overview:
M Health Fairview is looking for a Nutrition Services Cook on the Southdale Campus in Edina, Minnesota. This position is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours/2-week period) day shift. This position is benefit eligible.

This position is responsible for preparing food items as assigned using standardized recipes to meet established standards of quality, where you will be able to acquire experience and knowledge in a fast-paced team environment where customer service and food service skills are appreciated. Nutrition services staff directly influence the patient, guest, and staff experience by preparing and serving the food that sustains everyone through their healing or their work. There is great opportunity to engage directly with patients, medical staff, and to work together with a team of engaged employees. There are day, evening, and night shifts available where there are casual positions with no guaranteed hours all the way up to full-time hours.

About this position:
  • This position is responsible for safely preparing food and assembling & disassembling patient trays. Serves customers and delivers & retrieves patient trays along with other duties as assigned in the nutrition areas.
  • The position reports to five department managers (may also report to the general manager).
  • Approximately 75 employees in the department.
  • Benefits included for positions with 40+ hours per pay period or above (this position is benefit-eligible).

Monday: 7:00am- 3:30pm
Tuesday: 7:00am- 3:30pm
Wednesday: 7:00am- 3:30pm
Friday: 7:00am- 3:30pm
Saturday: 5:30am- 2:00pm
Sunday: 5:30am- 2:00pm
Week 2:
Monday: 7:00am- 3:30pm
Wednesday: 7:00am- 3:30pm
Thursday: 7:00am- 3:30pm
Friday: 7:00am- 3:30pm

Responsibilities/Job Description:
  • Prepare items as they are ordered.
  • Prepare food products to meet temperature and quality standards.
  • Follow standardized recipes to assure products are consistent in quality and nutritional value.
  • Assemble food within appropriate time frames.
  • Handle, Prepare and Store food in a safe manner following HACCP standardized operating procedures and documentation..
  • Take and record temperatures of food items and makes appropriate adjustments to achieve standards.
  • Sanitize equipment and work area per assigned schedules and designated procedure.
  • Take responsibility for self and others in work area.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide care or service, adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Any other tasks assigned by management within reason.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
  • One to three years of cook experience.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, using the English language.
  • Must be able to handle all foods under all conditions.
  • Basic math skills.
Preferred education:
  • High school diploma/G.E.D.
Desired skills:
  • Excellent customer service and communication.
  • Proficient in the English language.
