THIRA Health seeks a full-time, onsite Cook to help prepare and cook meals for our patients. This position demands an effective level of culinary competency with basic knife skills, culinary skills, and knowledge of the operation of all kitchen equipment. The employee will demonstrate good organizational skills and the ability to follow a recipe and make recipe conversions accurately. The position requires that the employee always maintains a high level of attention to detail when executing recipes and services. The employee is expected to work as part of a team, while also functioning as a self-driven component of the kitchen operation.

Job Duties

• Cook meals according to meal counts and recipes. Edit recipes for production size as needed. Prepare all recipes, portion controls and presentation as directed in a timely manner
• Restock all items as needed throughout the shift
• Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of prep kitchen, walk in coolers and storage areas
  
• Empty all garbage cans and transport other trash and waste to disposal area at the end of shift
• Help stock food items
• Perform additional responsibilities, although not as detailed, as requested by manager at any time

Requirements

• Must have previous cooking/health care diet experience preferred.
• Food Handlers Card
• Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor, work well with customers as well as associates.
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift to 25-50 pounds.
• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check (Federal & State)
• Follow guidelines concerning patient services, food, and physical safety, maintenance, and equipment/space cleaning requirements at all times

THIRA’s Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Kathryn Korslund, transitioned to THIRA after spending her career as research scientist at UW’s Behavioral Research & Therapy Clinics (BRTC) and working alongside Dr. Marsha Linehan on further developing and evaluating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Our Chief Finance & Operations Officer, David Krekel-Zoppi, came to THIRA after nearly a decade at Virginia Mason Medical Center and more recently having managed business and operations with Dr. Mehri Moore at The Moore Center.
