Milacron is looking for a Controls Software Engineer to join our team in Batavia, Ohio. As a Controls Software Engineer, you will be responsible for responsible for the design and implementation of mid to large size integrated plastics manufacturing systems using PLC software and contribute to the standard designs and software for Milacron’s core plastics machine business.

What you’ll do:

  • Designs, develops, and commissions control software for injection molding and extrusion plastics machines including logic sequence programs and user interfaces.
  • Implements customer requests and development projects on time and within budget.
  • Remains current with new technologies to ensure our controls software solutions are leading edge and cost effective
  • Participate actively in the various development and design phases.
  • Execute test protocols during all project phases.
  • Works with manufacturing to support our installed systems providing the best support to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Mechatronics/Computer Science/Chemical Engineering or equivalent major
  • 2+ years’ experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting in engineering/manufacturing environment
  • Experience in C/C++ languages

Great to Haves:

  • Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 PLC programming is a plus (such as Structured Text).
  • Work knowledge of industrial automation control systems is a plus, including motion control, servo drive and motor, VFD/inverter, and etc.
  • Previous experience in PET machine, preform process, packaging and beverage industry is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills while working with teams and internal manufacturing groups.
  • Proficient at reading and interpreting electrical drawings.
  • Able to independently complete all specific responsibilities with minimal supervision.
