GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Primary technical resource person within the corporation related to designing, programming, repairing, and monitoring of controls systems. This position is hands-on and will require most work be performed on the production floor installing and troubleshooting.

REPORTS TO: Engineering Director

SUPERVISION GIVEN: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires the use of office equipment, such as computer terminals and keyboards, printers, telephones, facsimiles, and copiers. May require bending, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders and standing for extended periods of time. Requires normal vision, hearing, and speech range.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily performed in a production environment. Some office work may be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement and maintain controls systems in production environment.
  • Troubleshooting and/or modifying PLCs or system controls.
  • Integrating sensors into robotic systems.
  • Programming of robots using Allen Bradley PLC programming software.
  • Write PLCs for production monitoring systems.
  • Monitor signals in ladder logic during downtime to determine software/hardware that may be replaced.
  • Coordinate and communicate with plant level engineers and operations teams to solve technical problems.
  • Participates in cost reduction programs and projects.
  • Ability to budget and manage multiple projects.
  • Helps with selection process on new capital equipment for production
  • Spec, purchase, install, connect, and link systems controls to new machinery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred. Prior experience in engineering, maintenance or related field in a manufacturing environment preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Computer literacy required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and 3D modeling software such as Inventor.
  • Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses required while performing duties in production areas.
  • Maintain organized schedules and filing
  • Some computer literacy and data entry knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC programming software.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex manufacturing drawings.
  • Familiarity with ERP system, Plex helpful.
  • Experience with Yaskawa robots preferred.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
