Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this individual will contribute to the success of the department and West View Savings Bank by:

• Maintaining the Bank’s accounting system and all supporting records that properly reflect the financial condition and activities of the Bank
• Developing and/or maintaining accounting policies and procedures
• Setting and achieving departmental and personal goals
• Responsible for the Bank’s monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing process
• Preparing individual and consolidated financial statements for WVS Financial Corp., the Bank’s holding company, and all subsidiaries for the preparation of internal and external reporting
• Preparing and submitting required regulatory reporting for WVS Financial Corp. and all subsidiaries timely and in compliance with accounting and banking regulations including the Call Report, FR Y9SP, and FHLB QCR reports
• Working closely with the CEO and the team to ensure compliance with all financial and reporting requirements
• Research and implement new accounting or regulatory standards
• Assisting the CEO in preparation of Bank’s annual budget and ongoing monitoring of adherence to budget
• Responsible for investment recordkeeping and pledging requirements for deposits and borrowings
• Supervising the Bank’s daily cash position including reserve balance positions, borrowing needs, and correspondent bank balances
• Overseeing the tax filing processes and reviewing all IRS filings for backup withholding, sales and use tax, and Miscellaneous Income (1099-MISC/NEC)
• Providing support to external auditors, internal auditors, and regulatory examiners
• Acting as a liaison to and handling inquiries from the Company’s stockholders and transfer agent
• Attending and participating in all ALCO and Audit Committee meetings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or degree in business or finance with emphasis in accounting
• Minimum of five years of experience in a financial institution’s Accounting/Finance department
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience with financial reporting and regulatory reporting is required
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability and willingness to accept changing priorities and assume different or additional responsibilities based on the needs of the organization
• Strong degree of initiative and independence regarding assigned responsibilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic are also necessary to effectively carry out assigned responsibilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong analytical and interpretation skills
• Proficiency in Excel and Word

Recommended Job Skills: Accounting Management, Cash Management; Asset / Liability Management, a plus.
