ROLE WITH THE COMPANY:
The Controller is the senior financial leader of the company and will oversee the financial operations of the business, provide frequent financial reports, and assure adherence to financial regulations and compliance. This is a hands-on Controller role leading a small accounting team of two that requires ownership of all accounting in the company. The Controller also oversees HR Manager and IT Manager (both one-person teams), and provides financial support to the owners. Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize things that need to get done and willingness to get in the details to do payroll or AP when team members are out. Reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities:
- Manage full cycle month end close process
- Prepare monthly financial reports by division and company within one week
- Oversee team of two in Accounting, one AP person and one accounting clerk
- Oversee HR Manager who processes weekly payroll and IT Manager
- Monthly meeting with Production Managers to report on WIP monthly; Controller not as involved with daily production/WIP, as that is PMs responsibility, then Controller reviews and books entries monthly on cost basis
- Prepare and submit monthly sales tax return
- Prepare and submit monthly workers comp data to insurance carrier
- Prepare bank collateral report monthly
- Prepare and record journal entries
- Reconcile bank accounts and intercompany accounts
- Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger
- Prepare quarterly payroll tax reports, FUTA/SUI tax deposit
- Prepare annual financial workpapers for review
- Prepare annual 401K census to plan provider
- Prepare Annual Budget
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA a plus but not required
- 6+ years' combined previous Controller experience (required) and public accounting (preferred)
- Hands-on experience managing full cycle month end close process in GL, AR, AP, and intercompany transactions
- Experience in construction or manufacturing industry preferred
- Job costing experience with knowledge of how to track jobs in progress and keep track of job variances required
- Inventory based environment with knowledge of inventory flow and how to do cycle counts and adjustments
- Cash management, cash forecasting, financial forecasting, and budgeting experience
- Strong attention to detail, organized, deadline and results focused, consistent
- Strong Excel skills including exporting data from GL to Excel, links between worksheets, and vlookups required
- Experience with Spectrum General Ledger a plus
