Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Specialist, located in Croswell, MI.
Job Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Specialist will work directly with site union and management to become familiar with the operations of our organization. This position will be assigned tasks and projects based on education level, degree, skill set, and other opportunities based on current business needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Help develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for assigned areas of the factory that meets applicable standards.
  • Develop training for Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and assist factory management in the roll-out of these training programs.
  • Analyze current and future SOP’s to maintain continuity of style and development.
  • Participate with the factory management team at Key Performance Indicator (KPI) meetings.
  • Perform quality assurance on all materials.
  • Proactively inform factory management about project status, issues and concerns.
  • Actively identify and make recommendations for improvement in the documentation and review process.
  • Additional tasks assigned by management.
Position Qualifications:
  • College graduate (Business, Communications, Technical Writing, Chemistry, Engineering or any related field) is preferred.
  • Experience in computer use and Microsoft Office suite.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with factory staff.
  • Ability to convert technical knowledge into easily understood terms.
  • Proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to ascertain information about current organization practices and how to go about organizing and capturing practices and procedures.
Required Training Upon Hire:
  • General factory safety requirements (Right to Know)
  • Food-related Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Food related SFQ practices
  • Relevant Toolboxes
