Construction Materials Technician-Field Representative

The Waukesha office of Giles Engineering is currently seeking entry-level and experienced Construction Materials/Engineering Field Representative. As a materials technician, you will be working side by side with professionals in a wide variety of fields in the construction industry. The civil engineering field encompasses many aspects, from soils to concrete to structural steel to fireproofing; this position is an integral part of the building process. We are looking for dynamic individuals who are interested in starting and/or furthering their career in Inspection and Materials Testing.

Individuals should have strong initiative, be able to perform routine to complex inspections and test procedures in the field for verification of conformance to plans and specifications. This is an opportunity to become a member of a successful team working on vital projects in the Wisconsin area.

Responsibilities:

• Perform testing and observations on commercial construction projects
• Prepare daily reports on observed activities, providing clear documentation of findings
• Work with project personnel and clients to ensure that specifications are followed
• Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments
• Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects
• Maintain assigned equipment
• Required skills:
• Above average attention to detail
• Understanding of construction
• Above average written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or higher education
• Valid Driver’s license with a good record
• Want to succeed and advance in life

Welder / Mechanic

Part-time position available for a welder / mechanic who is hard working, self-motivated and mechanically inclined. Approximately 20-25 hours/week. Excellent job for a retiree, flexible hours, work at our shop in Waukesha. General welding, tool build-up and hard facing in addition to routine fleet maintenance.
