- Assist in development of project concept plans for active transportation type projects, utilizing CAD and Estimator Software, aimed at increasing safety, connectivity and accessibility for bikes and pedestrians using the state’s transportation system.
- Act as a liaison to the Bureau of Engineering and Construction on Bicycle and Pedestrian projects.
- Assist in oversight and conduct and make recommendation for over one hundred design reviews yearly to ensure project designs are compliant with the Department’s Complete Streets Policy by providing safe and accessible accommodations for pedestrians and bicycles.
- Assist with oversight of multiple concurrent Regional Corridor Studies
- Maintain and develop authoritative data sets within the Department’s Enterprise GIS Data Portal, to inventory and support the future planning for for the state’s bicycle On-road and Linear Trails networks.
- Assist in managing multiple grant-funded municipal projects awarded via the Department’s $38 million Community Connectivity Grant Program.
- Assist in Managing the Department’s newly developed Transportation Rural Improvement Grant Program.
- Provide technical support for the Complete Streets Standing Committee as it relates to infrastructure and Active Transportation Design and Construction

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency this class is accountable for mastering the skills necessary to satisfactorily complete the training program for a professional position.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
In a department or institution receives training in introductory governmental work for development of skills and knowledge in field of public administration in order to qualify for advancement into agency professional positions; performs a variety of increasingly difficult duties as skills are acquired during course of training period; performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Transportation / Regional / Urban Planning or Studies, Civil Engineering, or closely related degree;
- Experience in transportation planning or engineering through course work, work experience or internships;
- Experience with Complete Streets policies and practices and active transportation facilities through course work, work experience or internships;
- Experience in reading and interpreting project design plans through course work, work experience, or internships;
- Experience with reading and interpreting state and federal statutes, regulations and guidance through course work, work experience, or internships;
- Experience working independently and as part of a team through course work, work experience, or internships;
- Experience with software such as Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, Adobe Acrobat, ESRI ArcGIS, Bentley Bluebeam and MicroStation.
