POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently recruiting for an on-site Computer Forensic Analyst. The Computer Forensic Analyst position is assigned to the Rhode Island State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
The primary purpose of this position is to conduct computer forensic analysis. This position involves critical duties and responsibilities that must continue to be performed during crisis situations and contingency operations, which may require extended hours of work. This full-time Mon-Fri 8-4 position pays $29.99 per hour, will last at least one year with a possible extension, and is located in office in Providence, RI 02908.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· * Conduct computer forensic analysis and services, in accordance with industry best practices or the
· policy, procedures, and practices of the Rhode Island State Police, including preservation, acquisition,
· validation, and analysis of digital data contained in computer hardware and software, including but not
· limited to desktop computers, laptop computers, hard drives, removable media, mobile devices,
· network servers and devices, and any other digital devices.
· Participate in the capacity of a Computer Forensic Analyst in the search and acquisition of digital media
· at offsite locations and crime scenes.
· Maintain care, custody, and control of evidence.
· Produce competent written technical and non-technical reports.
· Testify in local, state, and federal courts as an expert witness and be familiar with legal terminology
· and court procedures.
· Conduct testing and research to stay up to date with the latest digital forensic technologies and
· methods.
· Participate in continuing education, including formal and informal training, to maintain demonstrated
· competency and certifications.
· Work under time constraints and produce quality work product under a heavy workload, while
· maintaining organization of projects and assignments.
· Perform peer review of technically complex cases.
· Implement and troubleshoot hardware and software in a laboratory and network environment.
· Work with State Police Management Information Systems personnel and other technical personnel.
· Comply with directives from law enforcement personnel.
· Submit to and provide clearance for a comprehensive background investigation.
· Technical and Professional Requirements:
· Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
· Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.
· Recommend new approaches, polices, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
· Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.
· Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).
· Ability to work collaboratively.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the digital forensics process.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate computer and
· information technology concepts to a non-technical audience.
· Strong analytical and investigative skills to identify patterns and draw conclusions based on evidence
· and find connections between data sources.
· Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.
· Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritize tasks.
· Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related/applicable fields or_ equivalent experience_.
· Experience with industry tools such as Encase, X-Ways, FTK, Griffeye, Magnet AXIOM, Cellebrite UFED
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift and move up to 25 – 50 pounds at times.
· Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours may be required
· Travel may be required up to 10% of the time
