Job Summary
The Compliance Officer will report to the Chief Legal Officer and is primarily responsible for general and regulatory matters pertaining to the Federal Communications Commission and the Company's ongoing dealings therewith, including but not limited to responding to FCC regulations and actions and contributing to the Company's compliance programs. In addition, will provide legal counsel on various market matters across the enterprise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for company’s compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and enhance the company’s compliance policies, processes, and training.
- Provide oversight and direction of internal compliance reviews and audits.
- Participate as management representative on the company’s board of directors’ compliance committee.
- Work in regulatory and legislative matters, including drafting comments for regulatory proceedings, analyzing draft legislation and regulations, interacting with regulators and advocating publicly for the company.
- Provide strategic legal counsel on compliance and other legal matters to executives across the enterprise, including executive leadership team members.
- Manage government or regulatory investigations and conduct internal investigations.
- Provide legal counsel and strategic direction in connection with regulatory matters.
- Engage in a proactive, dynamic and strategically manner to aggressively represent and support the enterprise as legal counsel.
- Provide legal support for day-to-day business operations, including commercial contracts, employment law, intellectual property, risk management, and business development matters.
- Draft, negotiate and/or review a broad range of licensing agreements, service agreements, shareholder agreements, employment contracts, and NDAs.
- Serve as key legal advisor on regulatory issues for all major business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions
- Lead compliance department to ensure company’s compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Provide outstanding leadership to associates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in company committees, as assigned.
- Provide day-to-day legal advice to assigned departments.

This position manages employees and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees.

10 legal experience at a mid to large size law firm, government regulatory entity or in-house corporate role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Outstanding writing, research, negotiating, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong advocacy and presentation skills are a must.
- Thrive in high impact/high profile situations.
- Ability to provide practical, strategic, and business-oriented legal advice
- Ability to build strong working relationships with internal clients at all levels of management and work within cross-functional teams to develop solutions to complex legal/business issues
- Ability to effectively manage multiple time sensitive tasks
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong academic performance in law school.
- Experience with the Federal Communications Commission and Telecommunication Relay Services regulations a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Able to sit/ stand for a long period of time in an office environment
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components
- Regular and predictable attendance required.
