Stanton Norfolk Inc. is a division of Asian Americans for Equality, Inc. (AAFE) that manages the day-to-day operations of over 800 units of affordable housing across nearly 50 multifamily properties serving over 1,100 individuals and families in Manhattan and Queens neighborhoods, including Chinatown/Lower East Side, Flushing, and the Far Rockaways. Currently, Stanton Norfolk’s portfolio is comprised of full tax credit / affordable properties, as well as commercial spaces as part of mixed-use buildings. We pride ourselves in providing a full breadth of management services to provide quality, safe, and affordable housing; maintenance; financial reporting; and resident relations.
Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization based in New York City. Through our affiliate, Renaissance Economic Development Corporation, AAFE supports immigrant entrepreneurs, offering low-interest loans and training programs. From neighborhood offices in Chinatown and the Lower East Side (Manhattan) and Flushing and Jackson Heights (Queens) we provide an array of multilingual counseling and educational programs in support of low-income tenants, seniors and immigrant youth. AAFE strives for a more equitable city, through research, advocacy and grassroots community organizing.
THE POSITION- WHY WE NEED YOU :
Reporting to the Director of Property Management & Asset Management, the Compliance Manager will ensure the properties managed by Stanton Norfolk Inc. continue to operate in compliance with local, city, state and federal regulations as well as compliance with internal controls and operating procedures.
Responsibilities
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing and promptly submitting accurate City, State and Federal compliance reports
- Monitor changes in LIHTC, Fair Housing regulations and requirements at both the State and Federal level and implement changes to our internal operating procedures as indicated
- Monitor changes in City, State and Federal building code regulations and requirements, informing and ensuring the management team is adapting to changes.
- Monitor and resolve property violations
- Monitor and process AAFE’s housing waiting list and ensure that the tenant selection process is in compliance with AAFE’s standard operating procedures.
- Review and familiarize with the project regulatory / funding requirements and ensuring marketing team and management team are incompliance to funding /regulatory agreements
- Provide marketing status reports, updates and log reports on a regular basis.
- Ensure that commercial tenants, contractors and vendors are compliant with contract requirements, provide sufficient insurance coverage and properly name the owner as additional insured.
- Oversee and ensure properties are meeting insurance requirements.
- Work collaboratively with facility manager and property manager in preparing and issuing warning letters to tenants when the tenant is found breach of the lease contract.
- Maintain documentation for tenant legal
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises the marketing team and 1 (permanent leasing specialist)
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferable in business or hotel administration. MBA or Master’s degree a plus.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience involving class-A property management
- LIHTC Certification
- Fair Housing Certification
- Excellent organizational and computer skills including Google Suite, MS Suite and social media
- Highly motivated self-starter who is able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present information to a diverse client base- specifically racially, ethnically and socially diverse.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple complex projects
COMPENSATION: $80,000.00 annually
