Organization Overview: The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.


Purpose of position:
The Isaacs Center is looking for a highly motivated individual to support intergenerational and community engagement efforts. In collaboration with the Engagement and Success team, this role supports program recruitment efforts, manages integrational programming, and builds a strategy for engaging NYCHA residents within the Isaacs/Holmes development and surrounding communities.


Schedule:
Monday through Friday, with some nights and weekends. 29 hours/week.


Hourly Rate:
$17.12 - $21.40


Goddard Riverside and Isaacs Center requires all new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a qualified exemption.

Marketing and Media

  • In collaboration with the Director of Community Engagement and Success and Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator, manage Education and Workforce (EdWF) social media, marketing, promotional campaigns, and materials
  • Design and implement email and social-media marketing campaigns for current initiatives within EdWF
  • Manage the EdWF newsletter through Constant Contact
  • Attend various EdWF events and programs to capture real-time photos/visuals for social media content
  • Participates in social media campaign planning for awareness days, including brainstorming staff, participant/student interviews, content for infographics or animations, interviews staff and participants, drafts content for review and approval.
  • Participant Engagement
  • Support the outreach of Education and Workforce Development alumni
  • Track data and progress via Salesforce
  • Support the coordination of and off-site activities, visits, and workshops for participants including scheduling, securing space, transportation, food, etc.
  • General Community Engagement & Other Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with other Community Engagement team members, lead Intergenerational efforts through intentional programming and planning
  • Support the organizing of events and capacity-building activities to encourage community building within EdWF
  • Support community-based initiatives and represent the Isaacs Center at tabling events
  • Help when needed on special projects.
  • Conduct support and surveying calls to community members to assess needs and share information and track data associated with support calls
  • Assist with collecting and inputting all necessary data and provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
  • Attend staff meetings, team meetings, and content meetings, as required
  • Other duties as requested


Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or it’s Equivalent. Associates preferred.
  • Must have 1-2 years professional experience in an office setting, high degree of attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff and clients
  • Experience in community organizing and working with young adults (16-24) and older preferred

  • A Working knowledge: Basic understanding of youth development & older adults, the
  • General knowledge: sufficient knowledge of social media management
  • Thorough knowledge: A thorough understanding of NYCHA Tenant Associations, East Harlem and beyond.


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Exposures encountered, such as hazardous materials, loud noise, or extreme heat/cold.
  • Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
  • May require light physical effort/lifting, up to 20 pounds of promotional materials/equipment
  • May be required to work weekends/nights at special events
  • Some travel required within the five boroughs
