The Northbrook Park District is hiring a Part-Time Communications Coordinator to join our Marketing & Communications team. Works collaboratively as a member of the Marketing & Communications Division to provide support services including written content development, copyediting, proofreading and internal and external communications with various stakeholders.
Wage, shift and benefit Information
$23+ per hour depending on experience.
Position is 15-20 hours per week, with availability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop strong written content for internal and external audiences across a variety of outlets including press releases, reports, articles, social media, newsletters, employee intranet, website content, program descriptions and other correspondence.
- Provide strong copyediting and proofreading skills for a variety of internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain the District’s system for obtaining user feedback through surveys including creating, disseminating and reporting results.
- Working with the Division Director, coordinate communications and deliverables with current and potential sponsors and partners; manage and track payments and revenue and ensure partnership deliverables and agreements are upheld.
- Serve as a team member representing the District at special events, both internal and external, to professionally share the District’s brand. Support services at events can include interacting with the public, assisting other staff members, interviewing attendees and staff and taking photographs and video. These events can be during the work week, in the evening and on the weekend and will be scheduled in advance.
- Foster and maintain effective professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform all job tasks in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or related field, supplemented by three (3) years of related experience, including experience with writing, copyediting, journalism, and proofreading.

- Availability for weekday, evening and weekend scheduling as needed
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License

Work environment
Work is performed mainly in an office setting. Work is occasionally performed at other District indoor and outdoor facilities in warm or cool temperatures for varying periods of time.
