Commercial Project Manager


Boston Window and Door, dba. Pella Boston is currently seeking a Commercial Project Manager to join the team. A Commercial Project Manager will be responsible for managing multiple commercial projects from the point of sale through final project close-out to maximize customer satisfaction, and project profitability. Ideal candidates will represent the Pella branch across all project phases, with primary responsibility during the construction phase of commercial building projects including ensuring a first class experience with customers relating to installation, service, and preparation of final close-out documents.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Project Management

  • Provide outstanding customer service necessary to coordinate in-house and field support for ongoing projects to maintain Pella’s good standing with customers and site supervisors.
  • Oversee delivery, installation and sample mock-ups with customers and installers.
  • Identify solutions to unforeseen challenges that arise during the project cycle..
  • Must attend pre-installation meetings to ensure contractor, architect, and installers all understand how to install Pella products in line with the shop drawings for said project.
  • Must attend project water tests and coordinate with service technicians to ensure product is tested to the standards of the project, document findings, and either fix any challenges found as a result of testing or schedule service to complete the findings.
  • Works in tandem with Sales Representative and the Service Department to ensure successful project completion including RFI’s, change orders, and submittals.
  • Coordinate and supervise sub-contracted labor.
  • Assist in the coordination of all close-out documentation required (service manuals, warranties, etc.)
  • Work with Sales Representative and/or Installation team to field measure projects when verification is required in support of estimating take-off and order entry efforts.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction related field; or 5+ years equivalent combination of education and experience in commercial construction. Specific experience in the fenestration industry a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft® Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint software applications. Will be expected to develop proficiency in Pella proprietary software (i.e. PQM, CRM, etc.)
  • Ability to compile and decipher information in spreadsheet format.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction contract documents including architectural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and construction contracts.
  • Ability to write field reports, business correspondence, and provide others direct instruction related to construction practices and procedures. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Must be a team player and exhibit a strong desire to learn and promote self-growth. Must be pro-active, self-disciplined, self-motivated, and have a demonstrated ability to follow projects through to completion. Attention to detail is required. Must be able to demonstrate organizational skills, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Must be able to develop trust and confidence of customers, coworkers and managers. Must present in a clean and neat physical appearance. Must be able to investigate issues and resolve conflict in the best interests of the business and our customers.
  • Ability to perform calculations using units of money, time, measurement, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume, etc. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra, geometry and general business math. Ability to read a tape measure and read scaled architect drawings.
  • Must be willing to obtain necessary Safety certifications as required by associated construction activities, including: general safety certificates, forklift license, reach forklift license, boom lift license, CPR certificate, etc.

  • Ability and willingness to do physically demanding and potentially dangerous work, including working on the exterior of high-rise buildings on scaffolding, swing scaffolding, and cherry pickers.

The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
