Position Purpose:

The Commercial Loan Underwriter will work as part of the Business Solutions team in driving the growth of the commercial loan portfolio. The position will utilize strong analysis, research, documentation, and collaboration skills in order to process commercial loan applications, analyze credit, to evaluate payment agreements and terms of services, to validate members financial statements and other submitted documents, and in requesting additional information as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assumes responsibility for the analysis and researching of key data used in commercial lending:

• Reviews credit files to make sure financial statements are complete and organized.
• Spreads financial statements of both businesses and individuals.
• Performs in-depth financial analysis of borrowers applying for loans.
• Participates in the analysis, evaluation, and underwriting of proposed credit opportunities.
• Conducts research on borrowers, market areas, and industries.

Assumes responsibility for the proper documentation within commercial credit files:

• Prepares credit memos or approval.
• Ensures all supporting documentation is complete.
• Prepares in-depth loan packages and executive summaries that identify, analyze, and properly structure the credit including, but not limited to, CRE, C&I, construction, and government lending programs.

Assumes responsibility for effectively collaborating internally and external to drive business results:

• Make recommendations to management regarding credit decisions, risk ratings, and credit structures in accordance with REV Federal Credit Union’s policies and procedures.
• Makes decision rooted in the best interest of the membership of REV Federal Credit Union, the Business Solutions team, and the borrower.
• Interacts professionally with the borrowers, guarantors, and other professional involved in the transaction (such as appraisers, attorneys, contractors, inspectors, other lenders, etc.).
• Aid in the annual review of existing commercial loans.

Assumes responsibility for continuing education on items necessary for success in the role:

• Stay knowledgeable of all the requirement and processes for bought and sold participation loans.
• Develop and maintain familiarity with all loan policies and procedures for REV Federal Credit Union.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of all underwriting requirements for REV Federal Credit Union.

Assumes responsibility for complying with applicable regulations:

• Understand and comply with all NCUA, state, and other applicable regulations and guidelines.

Assumes responsibilities for related duties as required or assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

Education/Certification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance related field of study preferred
• 5+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to work and meet deadlines to ensure the loan closes in a timely manner
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments
• Ability to manage several assignments in various stages at one time
• Strong aptitude for computer-based systems, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, cloud-based Loan Operating Systems, and file management systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
