Reports To: Program Manager
FLSA Classification: Part Time
Department: Community Resources
Location: Toberman Neighborhood Center Campus, San Pedro
Special notes: Needs to be a current college student or graduated within the last two years. Position is for 15 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
POSITION TITLE: College Corner Leader
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Plan recruitment activities for youth and adults
- Provide college and career entrance information and assistance to students and adults
- Coordinate day to day operations and schedule activities, programs and speakers.
- Prepare career education and instructional materials for use by students and adults
- Assist students in locating and using college/career information as needed for research, assignments and post-high school planning.
- Obtain, organize, file and display guidance materials.
- Plan, organize, develop and arrange guest speakers from local colleges, businesses and military services to present information regarding specific occupations.
- Maintain current lists and bulletins concerning scholarships and other financial aids available.
- Provide information concerning specialized scholarships and assistance in completing application forms.
- Assist with FAFSA financial applications.
- Provide information concerning scholastic aptitude and achievement tests.
- Assist students with applications and scheduling
- Prepare letters, flyers and other materials to publicize the College to Career Center services, resources and speaker programs.
- Plan and conduct career days, career month, teen job fairs and college fairs.
- Attend all required trainings provided by Toberman.
- Attend regularly scheduled individual and group meetings/supervision during regular scheduled time.
- Attend community meetings as needed during regular scheduled time.
- Some Weekend Work and later hours as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Current College Student
- COVID Vaccination Required
- Negative TB Test
Program
- Experience working with inner-city youth
- Good communication skills
- Have a working knowledge of community resources
- Ability to take the lead on new projects when assigned for the growth of the Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
College Youth Leader
- Experience working in a collaborative environment preferred
- Residency in and/or familiarity with the target area and its cultural diversity is also a plus
- Flexible with working hours, some evenings and weekends
- Have strong reading, writing, verbal and communication skills, as well as good customer service skills
- Be adaptable to changing, fast-paced working environments and react well under pressure
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote quality, apply feedback to improve performance, and monitor own work to ensure quality performance
- Exhibit great organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Language Ability:
- Have strong reading, writing and communication skills
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
- Interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds
- Willingness to learn new approaches and techniques to apply to job practice, such as the

Computer Skills:
Ability to browse the web to assist clients in college and career search. Word Excel and
PowerPoint knowledge required.
Certificates and Licenses:
CPR/First Aid required
