We are looking for a full-time College Advisor that will manage the college access process for academy Student-Athletes. The College Advisor will champion the Club's commitment to higher education opportunities for all student-athletes within its academy. Working closely with the Assistant General Manager, Academy Director, Academy Director of Education, student-athletes and families, the College Advisor strives to educate, guide and support through the college search and application process.

This position is a 12-month position and includes some evening and weekend responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Works with students to develop a list of desirable colleges and universities by assisting in the application process, and arranging college visits and college fairs based on the student-athletes interests and strengths.
• Designs, promotes and implements programs and workshops to educate the student-athletes and their parents on the college landscape, recruiting, admission, deadlines and signing process.
• Counsels and guides students and parents towards common goals on the college recruiting, college admission and college selection processes.
• Establishes and maintains regular communication with families and students.
• Develops relationships with college soccer programs to create additional soccer pathways.
• Provides course selection advice to student-athletes
• Assists with ACT preparation
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two (2) or more years of previous experience advising students on the college admissions process.
• Ability to build relationships with students, teachers, and families in a residential dormitory setting.
• Experience in school psychology or counseling.
• Demonstrated sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural diversity and an understanding of a person's environment.
• Working knowledge of counseling models, practices, and resources in a high-performance environment.
• Ability to collect and analyze data.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to present effectively to large groups and parents.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends to accommodate the student-athletes travel schedule.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA recruiting cycles and regulations
• Understanding of the sport of soccer
• Spanish bilingual

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 5 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 10 pounds or exerting heavy force in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing etc.
