Lake Regional Health System is looking for a dedicated, professional Coding Auditor Educator to join our Revenue Integrity team. With our state-of-the-art hospital and network of clinics, therapy sites, and pharmacies, Lake Regional offers a wide range of employment opportunities in our community.

Additionally, this position will be expected to demonstrate advanced skills in the use and understanding of relevant computer systems (Meditech, Cerner, etc.) and reporting tools. The Educator/Auditor will serve as a key resource in monitoring Provider documentation, Coding Accuracy, and providing education to stakeholders as needed.

Position Overview:

  • Perform provider and coder audits on a minimum of a quarterly basis utilizing standard Medicare and industry coding guidelines to ensure accuracy in provider documentation and coding.
  • Perform quarterly audits according to the current OIG work plan and report finding to the Corporate Compliance team.
  • Utilize standard tools for documenting audits and providing written audit guidance; track audit details and provide reporting as directed.
  • Directly interact and communicate with Stakeholders, including physicians and leaders, on coding, charge capture, compliance, and other billing-related issues to inform, educate and assist with ongoing improvement as needed.
  • Utilize audit results and industry insight to develop and maintain educational materials; conduct formal and informal education events with Stakeholders, including physicians and leaders to educate and drive focus on continuous improvement of coding and documentation.
  • Participate in updating codes, the chargemaster, and coding software helps monitor coding compliance activities and interact with stakeholders to ensure timely and appropriate billing.
  • Assure staff and providers attends scheduled training/in-services; communicate with leaders as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of procedures and changes affecting Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, PPO, and related health care operations.
  • Communicates policies and procedures to staff on billing issues to promote efficient flow of billing process.
  • Perform other tasks or special projects, as needed.

Education required:
Coding Certification (RHIT, CCS, CCS P, or CPC) is required and CEMC, CPMA, or CDEO recommended

Experience required: 3-5 years in healthcare coding, with demonstrated understanding of Provider Documentation and Auditing; prior education experience preferred
