Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Position Summary:
The Certified Nurse Assistant is directed by the Office Coordinator, RN or Nurse Manager to provide hands on patient focused care in the Infusion Environment. The CNA also provides clerical support in the department as directed by the RN, unit Coordinator, or Infusion manager. The CNA will also work closely with the Rheumatology/Oncology staff, assisting with the patient visit/check in process.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates a firm understanding of the established Behavioral Standards of Horizon Health.
- Rooms all patients for Infusion Clinic, Rheumatology, Oncology and accurately obtains all patient information including vital signs, weight, and height. Reconciles patient medication list, patient history, and accurately documents this information into Athena, recognizing all abnormal findings and reporting them to the RN.
- Communicates effectively and respectfully to patients, coordinator or directing RN.
- Proficient with Order Entry- (Lab, Radiology)
- The CNA should be capable of answering the phone, taking, and communicating messages accurately and timely to the directing RN, coordinator, or manager.
- Proficiently complete restocking of supplies, checking all out dates on supplies, treatment rooms and clinic area utilizing the established PAR level system within the Infusion Clinic environment, including a good understanding of Jump Stock process.
- Responsive to the patient’s needs as they arise; answers call lights without hesitation.
- Proficient in utilizing equipment within the department specific to CNA expertise and will complete all departmental competencies as assigned.
- Understands and complies with the established Hand Hygiene guidelines and the importance of cleaning of all durable equipment between patient use.
- Demonstrates understanding of required scheduled and unscheduled departmental cleaning.
- Assists RN with setting up patient bays and cleaning as patients discharge.
- Understands and complies with the process for work related injuries.
- Demonstrates understanding of the CNA role in Rapid Response, Shooter, and Emergency/Disaster situations.
- Must adhere to the hospital wide dress code policy.
- Will fulfill all other job responsibilities/duties as assigned.
The CNA is required to maintain a professional appearance and attitude, with a teamwork approach to all tasks assigned. It is the expectation that the CNA will always treat all patients with respect and dignity.
The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital’s goals and objectives.
Position Requirements:
- Certified Nurse Assistant, clinic experience preferred.
- BLS required.
- Knowledge of HIPPA regulations and required adherence to patient confidentiality.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast paced, changing work environment.
