Clyde Recreation Center Fitness Manager
Job description
Under the immediate direction of the Recreation Center Superintendent and the general direction of the
Recreation Director, the Fitness Manager shall assist in planning, developing and conducting recreation
programs, fitness programs, and community events. Due to the nature of the position, evening and weekend
work is required.
Duties: Oversee/Supervise and help develop part-time fitness staff.
Monitor and maintain quality of fitness programs.
Interview, hire and train fitness personnel.
Manage payroll processing, performance review, and compensations for fitness staff.
Respond to customer complaints and questions promptly and professionally.
Coordinate with fitness staff on timely development and execution of fitness programs.
Maintain staff coverage and monitor staff operations on daily basis.
Adhere to safety standards and procedures.
Ensure fitness facility is kept clean, safe, and organized.
Manage and inventory program/fitness supplies and equipment.
Ensure fitness equipment and tools are maintained and in safe working condition.
Schedule regular maintenance and repair works for fitness equipment.
Recommend and purchase fitness equipment within the budget.
Assist in budget preparation, program evaluation, and policy development for the fitness center.
Develop effective fitness programs to attract more customers and ensure business growth.
Assist with planning, scheduling, and the coordination of Special Events to promote health and wellness in the
community.
Knowledge of social media marketing tools to create and maintain CRC's branding
Maintain National certifications and group fitness licensing to help cover classes
Must have a flexible schedule allowing for morning/afternoon/or evening class preparation.
Understand and enforce Recreation Center rules, regulations and policies.
Assist in the development of program budgets and make recommendations for program
improvements and program offerings.
Light equipment operation and maintenance. (fitness equipment)
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: A four year degree and/or related experience equaling 4 years is preferred. Knowledge of City, Recreation
Center and/or Nebo School District owned facilities a plus. Possession of nationally accredited training
certifications as required. Must possess a valid Utah driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
Must pass a background check and a drug test as a condition of employment.
Must be able to supervise and control large groups program participants. Able to develop program schedules
and budgets. Able to operate fitness related equipment and PA systems. Able to obtain and maintain
appropriate certification in CPR, First Aid and other certifications beneficial to the successful operation of
recreation and fitness programs. Must be able to use a PC for word processing, record keeping, the creation of
flyers, posters, certificates, etc.
Physical Demands: Able to lift 50 pounds. Able to stand, run, walk for extended periods. Able to be outdoors for extended periods
including during inclement weather
