Responsibilities


JOB SUMMARY

This job is responsible for designing/developing/testing/maintaining a wide variety of complex custom and internally-developed quality-related multi-user applications, databases, interfaces, reports, forms and associated business intelligence/training tools that automate end-user workflow/processes. An incumbent is also responsible for the analysis of patient outcomes and other core measures/quality indicators in order to facilitate the identification and execution of quality performance improvement opportunities/initiatives. Work involves determining, from an array of options, how best to build solid applications/programs/reports that meet professional standards and all systems and user requirements. In performing the work, an understanding of a wide variety of business systems/applications, data types and range of formats is required, as well as the business purpose behind data management needs. Work also requires sufficient expertise to address and resolve non-compatibility issues between systems/applications and to validate the accuracy and appropriateness of complex and multi-dimensional data.

Key areas of responsibility include trend reporting, forecasting, in-depth analysis of ambulatory/inpatient clinical/operational metrics and design/definition of meaningful metrics for new/existing initiatives/services/products. An incumbent directly supports assigned clinical service lines, FMG and/or Rainier Health Network by providing support in developing outcome measures, methodology and data analysis, and in interpreting results achieved.

Work also includes:

  • Meetings with stakeholders to define system data and reporting needs, and to ensure that gaps in current systems/practices are identified/addressed;
  • Determining most credible data sources, abstracting technique and format to use to best deliver outcomes to intended audiences;
  • Keeping abreast of changing organization needs and priorities, and identifying quality improvement initiatives to enhance/streamline current procedures/processes;
  • Transmitting report content to national databases; and
  • Presenting and explaining data to various leadership and management audiences to facilitate understanding of the information needed to support clinical practices/organizational priorities and provide actionable opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Analytics or other related discipline and a minimum of five years of directly related work experience (including data management and analysis) that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
