ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Ankura’s Mass Torts team has extensive experience providing strategic advice to all parties involved in complex litigation. Our team provides economic, financial, statistical, business analytics, and operational expertise to law firms and corporations, with a particular focus on mass torts and class actions. Our diverse and experienced professionals provide insight throughout the entire litigation life cycle, from initial strategic planning to settlement administration. We leverage our unique expertise and knowledge in a variety of industries, ranging from consumer goods to financial services, and have been involved in some of the largest cases in US history.
Typically, a mass tort is resolved with the establishment of a large settlement fund that is designed to provide compensation to the eligible members of the claimant population. The primary goal of the Settlement Administration Group is to provide reliable and consistent settlement services to distribute the allocated funds according to the terms and conditions of the settlement agreements. To accomplish this goal, the Settlement Administration Group provides a host of settlement-related services that provide the means to distribute the funds on a fair and equitable basis. Group members provide claims review and audit services, workflow and protocol development, claim valuation, progress reporting, data analysis and reporting, and overall settlement distribution oversight for various mass tort settlement funds.
As an Associate, you will be working closely with the project team to become familiar with the clients' big-picture objectives and challenges. You will execute critical project deliverables to ensure these objectives are met on time and with the highest quality. And will involve working collaboratively with and learning from our diverse and knowledgeable team that has a wealth of experience in delivering excellent service to our clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform data collection, document review, and research projects as requested

Interact with settlement counsel and law firms to correct claim form, release and other required documentation errors or omissions and to investigate questionable entries

Manage claims related databases, internal and external, to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date

Prepare summary reports of claims processing status, and other ad hoc reports as needed

Perform analysis on existing data and identify root causes for data inaccuracies

Follow quality assurance and data testing strategies and best practice standards

Respond in a timely manner to data requests to ensure daily, weekly and monthly deadlines and goals are met

This role will be based out of D.C. and on a hybrid schedule.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Creative/analytical problem-solving ability and a collaborative mindset

Ability to utilize technology to solve complex problems

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to excel within a team environment

Familiarity with or interest in learning SQL or advanced Excel skills
