Job description
ROLE AND PURPOSE:
Assist the Assistant Director of Accounting in performing general accounting procedures.
Perform general clerical duties related to cash receipts, general accounting entries, administrative activity fund, and campus accounting support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution required.
- Two years of college coursework in accounting or related subjects preferred.
- Three years of general business/bookkeeping/clerical experience.
- Texas public school district experience preferred.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Data entry
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel spreadsheet applications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word processing applications
- Ability to interact courteously and knowledgeably with internal and external customers of the District
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist campus and departments with overseeing their activity fund budget.
- Process check requests and requisitions for the department.
- Submit monthly sales tax report.
- Process transactions for the district-level activity fund.
- Assist with posting general journal entries.
- Perform routine bookkeeping tasks, including simple arithmetic operations for the department.
- Assist in providing instructions to district staff regarding activity fund procedures.
- Assist with special projects and reports.
- Coordinating activity fund training
- Preparing/communicating/disseminating department procedures/manuals/etc.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
- Answer incoming calls, take detailed messages, and route to appropriate staff.
- Liaise between departments, campus, and central office Finance and Operations.
- Prepare and copy/edit correspondence, forms, reports, etc., for the Activity Funds as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Keep informed of and comply with state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions

- Performs other duties as assigned
