Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Clerical Assistant for Rutgers Residence Life. The 2023 ACUHO-I Assignments & Operations Intern at Rutgers University – New Brunswick, one of two internships offered for the summer session, will serve as an integral member of the Residence Life Operations and Administration team. The Intern will report to the Associate Director for Residence Life Administration. The Intern’s primary responsibility will be to support the Residence Life Administration Office which includes Housing Contracts and Assignments, Conference Services, and Departmental IT. Through working with the central administration of Residence Life, this intern will gain exposure and experience our housing contract processes, enrollment projections, and housing demand, researching best practices for roommate matching, and first year housing assignment procedures. In addition, the intern will be exposed to summer housing operations, conference service projects, and web/application development tools utilized within the department.

- Obtains an overall understanding of a large housing assignment operation.
- Works with the Assignment Coordinator team to process room changes, housing assignments, and contract cancellations.
- Works with the Assignment Coordinator team to assess the housing lottery room selection process and conduct research to benchmark our process with other institutions.
- Develops an understanding of administrative operations including 4,000 special-interest/Living-Learning Community spaces, 5,500 specific first year assignments, and summer session housing.
- Works with the Associate Director for Residence Life Administration to develop assessment tools and analytical data sets to project housing demand for future semesters.
- Develops skills as it pertains to customer service while assisting students, staff, and parents in understanding university policy and procedures within the department.
- Obtains an understanding of Graduate Housing Operations and 12-month contracts.
- Develops an understanding of Family Housing contracts and assignment procedures.
- Assists in the review of all marketing and communication material pertaining to departmental operations.
- Works directly with the Associate Director of Residence Life Administration to develop and accomplish a unique summer project, defined by your specific interest and experience.
- May assist Conference Services and Departmental IT development when applicable.
- Other Residence Life Administration and Operation projects that arise throughout the summer including summer session housing and move-in procedures and operations.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of relevant office, clerical, bookkeeping, library assistant or related experience depending on the duties to be performed.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
